For those of you who travel a lot, and love to read whenever the opportunity is available, there is a convenient product called the Kindle. Kindle is developed by Amazon, and it’s a platform that is considered software/hardware.
The applications for are made for Windows, iOS, Blackberry, Mac OS X and the Android. The Kindle was first released in the USA on November 19, 2007. The Kindle hardware uses a certain type of paper and ink that has 16 different tones of gray. The kindle is able to download content from Amazon’s Whispernet using the Sprint EVDO network. However, the newer versions of Kindle uses AT&T’s network. All of this is done by a wireless connection.
The Kindle hardware device is built to be used without any computer connection, and Amazon Whispernet is open to any user without any recurrent fee or wireless subscription. In fact, all the Kindle models offer free access to the Internet in the U.S.A. by the use of cellular networks (as mentioned earlier.)
On March 03, 2009 Amazon.com launched a newer application called Kindle for iPhone that was available for customers in the iTunes App Store. This allowed iPhone and iPod Touch owners to read Kindle content on the device. Through special technology called “Whispersync”, customers can read books or content that has been uploaded to the device. Amazon announced the Kindle DX on May 06, 2009.
This particular version has a larger screen than its previous generation, and it also handles simple PDF files. A convenient thing about this version is that it is also is the thinnest device that offers an accelerometer, which allows the user to effortlessly rotate pages between landscape and portrait directions whenever the Kindle DX has to be turned on its side. It is advertised as more fit for displaying newspaper and textbook content.Amazon has also released a Kindle package for the PC and Macintosh that is free of charge. This allows the users to read Kindle books on a computer that has either a Windows or MAC operating systems.
This device is a bit on the pricey side, but they are a good investment for those who would enjoy the convenience of having all of their books on one handy device.

Food is still going up in price so now is the time to get clever with your shopping and cooking. By giving it some thought, and changing a few eating habits, you can provide cheap, tasty and nutritious meals for the whole family every day. Here are some of the best ways of cutting the cost of the family food bill without compromising on taste or goodness:
- Once a year, use up everything in your cupboards. Only buy perishables to go with what is already there (you know, all those pulses, pasta shapes, jars of sauces, tins of things that have been there for years!). That will cut down the shopping bill significantly for a month and it may give you some surprisingly tasty meals using sauces you’ve never tried before.
- Shop at markets rather than supermarkets – you save about 30% on your food bill. If you time it right (towards the end of the day) you can get entire boxes of fruit and veg very cheaply.
- Use the internet to find recipes for unusual foods or to use up leftovers.
- If you’ve bought a large quantity of vegetables from the market very cheaply, either make soup from them and freeze some or blanche them (half boil them quickly then ‘refresh’ with cold water) and freeze them to use with meals later on.
- Shop online if possible. It stops you being tempted by ‘offers’ the supermarkets put in your way to make you buy. It could also be cheaper to pay the delivery charge (particularly if you choose a less popular time) than the travel or petrol costs you would have getting yourself to the shop. Also, the sites tend to keep your last shopping list so that you can just re-order what you need.
- Use internet comparison sites to find the best prices for the things you want to buy at that site.
- Invest in a bag of Klippits. They keep anything fresh – half-eaten bags of crisps, opened cereal packets etc. They’re marvellous things and really save on food bills by keeping everything fresh and crisp for weeks.
- Plan meals for the week (or even for the month). That way you can plan ahead, buy only what you need, cut down on waste and save a lot of money.
- Shop with a shopping list, based on the meals you have planned for the week. Try to stick to the list, although picking up genuine marked-down items that are close to their sell-by date can be a good idea.
- Get into growing your own fruit and veg. Even if you live in a flat with no outside space you can grow herbs on window ledges, tomatoes in grow-bags and lettuces in window-boxes!
- Cook in bulk at the weekend and freeze into individual (or family-size) portions. This cuts down on waste nicely and stops you buying pre-prepared or takeaway meals.
- Check the fridge each day and plan meals around what is likely to go off first.
- Those leftovers from last night’s dinner can make a great lunch to take to work if refreshed with salad, saving you money daily. For example, stews and soups can simply be put into a plastic box and microwaved at work. Cooked meat can be used in sandwiches and even cooked vegetables and mashed potato can be whisked into a filling and nutritious soup.
- Replace a meat dish with a veggie version once a week. Vegetarian meals are generally cheaper than meat-based ones. If you really want your meat, get into pork which, pound-for-pound, is the cheapest meat.
- Buy in bulk with friends. If one of you has a card for a cash-and-carry then buy together and get the benefit of the cheap prices without having to store loads of tins in your home.
- Keep fresh fruit, vegetables and salad in the fridge and they can last up to two weeks longer.
- Get free food, particularly from Spring to Autumn, by picking it. Be aware of picking poisonous plants though!
- Keep your own chickens, if you have the space and the time. You will have fresh, organic eggs regularly and could make money by selling extra ones to neighbours Get into Freeganism! Freegans are people who collect the food thrown out by supermarkets because it is at it’s ‘Sell by’ date. Most foods are perfectly safe to eat at this stage but legally the supermarkets have to get rid of it. If you can find the bins at the back of the supermarkets and you’re not squeamish, you could eat for free every day of the year!

Accounting is the measuring, and disclosure or provision of assurance about information that helps managers and other decision makers make resource allocation decisions.
How to become an Accountant.
Accountants in the US are called Certified Public Accountants and in the UK and Canada are called Chartered Accountants.
Chartered Accountants in Canada are expected to know all US CPA knowledge as well as a Canadian Accounting body of knowledge.
In order to become an Accountant an undergraduate degree is required and then a period of articling is required which can take as long as 5 years with gruelling exams and an exhausting series of finals.
In her notes compiled in 1979, Professor Linda Plunkett of the College of Charleston S.C., calls accounting the “oldest profession”; in fact, since prehistoric times families had to account for food and clothing to face the cold seasons. Later, as man began to trade, we established the concept of value and developed a monetary system. Evidence of accounting records can be found in the Babylonian Empire (4500 B.C.), in pharaohs’ Egypt and in the Code of Hammurabi (2250 B.C.). Eventually, with the advent of taxation, record keeping became a necessity for governments to sustain social orders.
Perhaps the most significant benefits to contemporary accounting has been the introduction of computer programs to assist in the accounting function.Computer programs were introduced in business and government organizations in the 1950s, and the most important applications of computers have been in the areas of record keeping, balancing , and transaction recording.
Accounting uses various bases of measurement, mainly the cash basis, the accrual basis (or historical cost) and variations of these; all of these functions are greatly assisted by the use of various accounting software programs.
Accounting is tied to the invention and dissemination of the double entry bookkeeping process.Different Accounting Software Solutions available today:
ACCPAC web-based accounting, launched the ACCPAC Online web site in 1999 which allows end users to run ACCPAC from a simple browser for a small monthly rental fee.
Intuit’s QuickBooks for the Web represents a new product from scratch.
Microsoft Small Business Manager is a new player on the block which is a scaled down version of Great Plains Accounting Software.
Netledger centralized net computing renamed Oracle Small Business Manager
Peachtree. This product was the older Peachtree Office Accounting product and is also a web-based solution.
In 2000, Peachtree added a web-based module to its’ flagship Peachtree Complete Accounting product called Peachtree Web Accounting.
SAP mySAP – web-based accounting featuring a limited number of SAP modules.
So it appears that there are 2 different types of Accounting Software:
Web Based Accounting: which is one application on a Web Server running everybody’s application.
There are of course advantages and disadvantages to this type of application, immediately coming to mind is confidentiality and the security of the Servers being used as well as possible breakdowns.
Advantages are of course in being able to use unlimited Server Resources.
And then there is PC Based accounting which everybody has tried and is Bill Gates favorite.
Advantages;
In-house control of everything but subject to limited resources.
J Shipper is very interested in Accounting Software.

Operating an online business is becoming more and more hectic by the day. It seems in the never ending race to produce a great product we often neglect the most important thing we can do to actually sell our products and that is focus on persuasive marketing content. I too struggle with this dilemma of time vs talent so I started looking for shortcuts to make my time more “worth it.”
After some careful keyword browsing I came across the “B.U.R.P.I.E.S” Software system, which in fact does sound like it would be the name of an organic baby food product, but further digging revealed its actually one of the most amazing little pieces of software you’ll ever see.
One of the things content producers struggle with is the amount of time it takes to create strong marketing pages or sales letters to sell ebooks, DVDs etc., often this can take as long as producing the product, but can be far more stressful since the success of the entire company often depends on someone being a strong copywriter.
The “B.U.R.P.I.E.S” software was co-produced by copywriter Brett McFall, an Aussie who happens to know a thing or two about writing good copy. Brett set out to design a system that could help newbies, website owners, or even highly experienced copywriters to create super-selling copy, and not in the usual 30 days of blood, sweat and tears that it normally takes, but rather to accomplish a complete letter, better than you could have imagined and possibly with greater pulling power than what you could have created on your own, in about 30 minutes.
“Say what”? you say? Yes, the BURPIES system helps you to create your letter or page content, beginning to end, in 30 minutes and includes every component of a sales letter you’ll need to sell your products to the masses.
… And it does it probably better than you can, in about 30 minutes. The BURPIES system asks a very carefully thought out set of questions to learn about your product and benefits, use etc… and then it churns out highly targeted sales content that is well written and very persuasive.

A food safety and quality manual should outline the structure of the food safety and quality management system for a food production or processing organisation. It will also provide a central point to identify all the associated procedures, policies and forms. The manual should:
be made available to all relevant staff either electronically as a read-only file or in paper form;
integrate fully with the HACCP food safety plan and associated documentation;
define how the organisational structure and associated personal responsibilities have been developed to ensure food safety and compliance with defined product quality and process criteria;
have an issue date;
issue number and be formally authorised i.e. signed off;
describe how the manual will be updated if there is a need to change a statement in the manual and who is authorised to undertake the amendment and also authorise the changes before re-issue;
reference the scope of the food safety and quality management system i.e. how much of the business is addressed by the manual; and
reference any quality or food safety management system standards that the manual has been designed to comply with e.g. BRC Global Standard, ISO 9000, ISO 22000 and any sections of the system standard that are not applicable and why the organisation feels that they are not applicable.
Training programmes must be in place and be effective to ensure that all staff understand their part in food safety and quality management and the parts of the manual that are applicable to their work responsibilities

Point of sale (POS) software integrates the physical devices in the POS systems with computer language and thus facilitates automated data processing. POS software not only monitors almost all day-to-day activities of any business, but also helps to run them systematically, keeping track of income and expenditures, inventory, stock, and clearance, billing, customer, and transaction records and customer service through touch screen information kiosks and vending machines. Speedy business transactions and accurate budgeting helps vendors increase their profits significantly. The software also helps in paging in hotels and restaurants, taking online food orders and delivery of food items.
The very first POS software was introduced by IBM, which came out with IBM 3650 and 3660 Store Systems in August 1973; the software was first installed in Pathmark Stores in New Jersey and Dillard’s Department Stores. Now, POS needs have become so wide and varied that different POS software is tailored to suit the specific needs of different industries. The most popular of these industries include restaurants and retail stores. Software for each of these industries has unique features that automate sales and customer transactions and ensure staff accountability. For example, POS software for a hotel will ensure that a guest’s personal calls are automatically are automatically billed into his account by the computer and added to other charges. And a retail outlet’s POS software will require employees to swipe their cards to record their work hours and will keep stock of all the product details. Some point-of-sale software also includes credit and debit card swipe facility, fake-check tracing, and report-generating capabilities for day-to-day and monthly transactions.
Vendors usually take trials of different software before deciding the best software for their industry. Essential for the installation of basic POS software are computers, printers, cash registers, scanners, and keyboards. Barcode printing software, cash register express software, and inventory software are essential for any business that uses a point-of-sale system.
POS provides detailed information on POS, POS Software, POS Systems, Restaurant POS and more. POS is affiliated with Metal Store Fixtures.

Maintaining proper food temperature should be a constant process in your restaurant or commercial kitchen, from the time it arrives through your back door to the time it arrives on the customer’s plate.
When the delivery truck arrives, immediately check food products for temperature. Reject food that arrives above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Once you have ensured that the food has arrived in good condition, store it immediately.
Use a good thermometer. Make good thermometers available to your staff to help with the temperature monitoring process. Make sure you and your staff are trained in proper thermometer use:
Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of what you want to measure, and make sure the tip is in about the center.
Wait about five minutes for a proper reading. Newer digital thermometers will beep when they have reached the absolute temperature.
Sanitize the thermometer before and after each use.
Constantly monitor food temperatures. Develop and post a temperature monitoring schedule for all the different food types you are currently storing and prepping.
Train other employees to help you maintain this schedule. Stay out of the food temperature danger zone between 41 degrees and 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
For heated foods, post a safe temperature chart for cooked foods and train your employees to properly use a thermometer to check food temps during heating.
Safe Chilling and Heating Instructions
Keeping out of the 41 degrees to 145 degrees danger zone should be the top priority for all foods and ingredients. The one exception to the danger zone rule is freshly cooked food, which can be held at 140 degrees before serving, although you should establish a deadline for hot held food after which you should either rapidly chill and store the product or dispose of it.
If you are chilling food that was heated, chilling it rapidly is the best way to prevent bacterial growth. Use a blast chiller or a cold paddle to bring food temperature down quickly.
This also retains maximum food freshness. After food has been rapidly cooled, store it in a commercial refrigerator or freezer. Use storage containers to maintain freshness.
If you are serving cold foods, use a chill pan with built-in refrigerant and ice to ensure food maintains the correct temperature. Monitor temperature to make sure food items are not rising above 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
